Meet 'N Eat: Paw Paw's Catfish House

If you didn't make it out to the first Meet 'N Eat this last Tuesday, you CAN'T miss the next! Joleen Smith over at 365 things to do in Bastrop County organized an amazing event for neighbors to come together, enjoy some of the local faire, and just enjoy a beautiful day! We got to eat at Paw Paw's Catfish House on Main Street in Downtown Bastrop and of course I brought the birdie crew so that we could get some good grubbin' goin', on and give you the scoop! Here's what we had:

We ordered the Texican Burger (great kick but not too spicy!)

Shrimp baskets (nice batter!)

A chicken basket (for the littlest birdies, and no picture...they dove right in!!)

Everything came out in a timely manner, the burger was juicy (and like I said had a nice kick!), the shrimp were cooked well and plump, and everything was hot. We enjoyed the quality of the food (SO IMPORTANT, especially with fish!) and the clean and friendly atmosphere. We had AWESOME service (tell my girl Krystal HI!) and we really could not have asked for a better host for such an amazing event!

We ended up spending some time with neighbors and really awesome business owners and members of the community! I see great things coming from this gathering, it would be a GREAT excuse for like minds to come together and DO SOME GOOD in Bastrop County.

Anything Go's (Bastrop, Tx).

I have a new favorite burger in town and you HAVE to go and try it. Here, wait. Let me show you...

And that doesn't even do it justice. It's juicy...it's seasoned well and there's this oh so creamy buttermilk sauce. WHAT?!?!?! Yah. Buttermilk sauce. Not to mention the soft and airy bun (or sandwich roll anyway but it's PERFECT!!) And guess where it's all at??

A. Gas. Station. Yup. Right on HWY 21 at the Chevron next to the State Park.

(see?? inside a gas station)

So now it's confessional time...the hubby and I have been in quite a few times recently (you know for research) and we have eaten things like...

Buffalo Gravy...or Poutine. (Do you know what that is?)

Oh my GEEZ I'm drooling.

In all seriousness though, this guy (his name is Brad and he's a really talented chef with some ACTUAL experience!) knows what he is doing. So if you're in the mood to try something delicious with a definite "East of Weird" flair, stop by. (I forgot to mention, Anything Go's...means anything goes so order how you want. But trust me when I say, just let the guy make you a burger!)

Don't forget to tell them a little birdie sent ya!

And now...I leave you with this.

Chirp chirp! Have you eaten here yet?? Tell us about it in the comments...what have you had?
